Freshman Game Postponed
The Freshman Game scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed until next week. The Freshman Team will take the practice bus at 2:45 after school and will have a full Intrasquad Scrimmage fro 3:00 - 4:30 at Dresden. The bus will return students to school afterwards.

Freshmen Shine in the Rain, Beat Merrimack 3-0
The Freshmen had to wait more than a week to resume their game schedule following their big 3-2 win over Concord, but they showed that had made good use of the intervening time, beating Merrimack 3-0 in the steady rain at Dresden. It was actually a great day to play. The temperature was moderate, with no wind, and the Dresden pitch was firm and played beautifully. The young Marauders took full advantage, playing their best game of the season. They created more than two dozen scoring chances, created a number of patient, multi-pass buildups, and switched the point of attack like pros. The defense was outstanding. The attacked the ball without diving in, worked in pairs to win countless balls at midfield, and kept a tall, talented team off the board. Two weeks ago Merrimack scored twice against Hanover. The improvement was obvious. Ty Nolon had several good saves too earn his best clean sheet of the season. He had a superb game with ball at his feet, and directed traffic in the back.
It didn't take Hanover long to shake off the rust accumulated during their long hiatus. Off the opening kickoff, the ball was played to starting right midfielder Jack Blaisdell. Blaisdell expertly toe-poked the ball to Jack Gardner, and Gardner raced past a defender on the right side, beating goalkeeper Max Montgomery to the far post. The Marauders settled into a back and forth game, creating a number of good looks through midfielders Ian Smith and Simon Taenzer, and wingers Berkeley Chamberlain and Liam Worden. Merrimack countered with long balls to their tall, speedy wingers, but they were contained by defenders Own Smith, Jackson Watts, Ethan Munson, Cam Forbush and Wyatt Sklarin. Hanover got another boost when Jack Stadheim, Will Taylor, Jack McGrath and Alex Brackett checked in, and they doubled the lead at the 20-minute mark on a steal and breakaway by Gardner. Hanover was getting excellent play from wing defenders Tom Mosdal and Kevin Choi, whose support of his wing midfielders and ability to handle a pass out of the back really opened up the game.
The rain continued into the second half, but Hanover was waterproof. The continued to press the attack, understanding the importance of the next goal, to be scored. Hanover earned a ton of corner kicks throughout the half, and made many of them dangerous. Better position play by wingers will continue to help. The Marauders cashed in on a corner sixteen minutes after the interval, with Soren Stettenheim corralling a loose ball in the box and threading a shot that tucked inside the right post for a 3-0 lead that took the steam out of Merrimack. Many of Hanover's best attempts followed. Cam Bonner showed the he was well-suited to play striker. He was hard-working, resourceful and creative in the box, getting his head on a corner kick, and hitting a wonderful left-footed volley. Theo Joseph was effective all day on the flank, and now know what an absolute sitter looks like up close. Auggie Krawitt showed everyone what effective wing play looks like stretching the field and playing dangerous balls into the box.
Back in the Hanover end, Nolon continued to orchestrate the defense like Leonard Bernstein conducting "West Side Story", dominating his box with excellent judgment off his line.

Marauders Beat Memorial 2-0; Record Now 9-1
The Marauders overcame all sorts of small challenges and took the advantage of a wide surface to register a 2-0 victory over Manchester Memorial on Thursday. Hanover's second trip in 48 hours went smoothly and efficiently, and the Marauders showed off an impressive offensive arsenal, setting for a businesslike win, their seventh in a row, running their record to 9-1.
Charlie Adams scored the game winner 26 minutes into the match, his 14th of the season. He has scored in seven straight games. He's not scoring to break records, he's scoring to help Hanover win. close games. He spearheaded an attack that outshot Memorial 23-5, and won the corner kick battle 8-0. Eli Stack scored his fourth goal of the year to clinch the game in the 75th minute.
The match started slowly, and stayed mostly at midfield for the first 15 minutes. Adams hit a free kick on frame at 17:00 for Hanover's first shot, and that was a followed shortly by a flurry in front that resulted in Charlie's shot being pushed over the bar for a corner. 23 minutes into the match Blake Palmer sent a great cross in front for Adams, who lofted his sitter over the bar. One of Hanover's positive collective attributes this season has been patience, and it showed. There was no frustration or angst for having mis-spent some good opportunities. Soon enough, patience was rewarded. Dylan Kotlowitz stepped briskly on the right side and found space to play Adams onto the right flank. Charlie languidly found space and time and ripped a shot side netting to give the Marauders the lead.
Hanover's subbing scheme gave the duo of Eli Stack and Henry Aspinwall the next great opportunity with nine minutes left in the half. Stack beat his defender on the right side and sent a cross to the far post, where Aspinwall's deflection hit the upright. While Hanover was sizing up the Memorial goal, the Marauder was choking the Memorial attack before it could get started, limiting them to a sole soft shot on goal.
The Marauders continued to dominate possession and passing in the second half. Adams sent Stack in alone on a breakaway, and then Palmer, whose pressing and positioning were in good form, forced a strong save with a good shot after a steal. Aspinwall checked back into the match and took a sneaky good pass from Adams that set him upon at close range. His shot clanged off the post again! Just a minute later Amane Matsuoka forced a good save with a hard shot out of the corner.
Hanover now has an established rotation of six attackers, and all of them (Adams, Stack, Palmer, Matsuoka, Ringer and Aspinwall) were in form on the same afternoon. It was an impressive display. The Marauders held the ball so long that Memorial was limited to three very long range shots.
Finally, with five minutes to play, Stack got his fourth goal of the campaign when he intercepted a clear and found the goalkeeper far off his line. He hit a cheeky donkey chip more than thirty five yards, and it settled into the back of the net.
Hanover continued to get great defense from Kyle Doucette, Judd Alexander, Noah Pikielny, Kotlowitz, and Evan Nichols in front of Perras, whose second shutout in a row was enabled by great communication and outstanding ball work. Will Blinkhorn made several good tackles to help close things out, and Hanover maintained their hold on second place in Division One, behind rampant Bedford, 5-0 winners over Concord a few exits to the west.
The Marauders now prepare for Timberlane and their Grassroot Soccer Benefit Game on Tuesday.

JV1 Blanks Memorial 5-0; Seven-Game Win Streak
The JV1 squad made a successful road trip to Manchester on Thursday, beating Memorial 5-0 with five different goal scorers. Hanover has won seven games in a row, and is 9-1 on the season. The Marauders got. started quickly, scoring in the fifth minute when Mitch Aspinwall switched the point of attack to Isak Larusson on the right flank. Isak's cross connected with Pierce Hamlin at the far post for a 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, Eric Tysinger fed Mitch Aspinwall for a left-footed finish on a center run. Hanover nearly scored once more before halftime, when Oscar beat the keeper but saw his shot swept off the goal line by a Memorial defender.
Hanover improved on the 2-0 halftime lead in the 60th minute, when Connor Hamlin crossed to Murphy Hunt, who hit a lefty far post finish. Thursday Dismissal For Memorial is 2:30
The dismissal/departure time for Varsity and JV1 soccer is 2:30 tomorrow. All Varsity and JV1 players will attend period 7, having told their teachers that they will depart quietly at 2:30. They will go straight to the bus. Those with free periods 7th should check the office for food for both teams. We need to leave quickly, before general dismissal.

Marauders Sweep a Trio of Road Games
The Marauders sent 70 players on the road Tuesday and each of the three teams emerged with a quality result. The JV2s traveled to Mines Falls Park and beat Bishop Guertin 2-0. JV1 and Varsity were nearby in Hudson, playing at Alvirne High School. JV1 beat the Broncos 10-1. The Varsity beat Alvirne 3-0. Both of those teams are now 8-1. The JV2s remain undefeated.
JV2s got goals from Mitchell Rowley and Ayaan Ahmed to break a halftime scoreless stalemate. Coach Chris Dawes lit a fire in the interval, and the Marauder defense continued to be stingy in front of goalkeeper Jared Licht, who earned his first clean sheet. JV2s will train at Dresden Wednesday at 3:00, and prepare for Friday's home game on the Turf at 4:30 against Sunapee.
The JV1s scored five times in each half to dispatch Alvirne 10-1. Eric Tysinger converted an Isak Larusson cross, Jack Ross converted on a short corner with help from Tysinger and Mitch Aspinwall. 20 minutes in, Johnny Reznek volleyed home a goal, and a minute later Oscar got the first of three with a toe poke rebound, and then set up Derek Lacy for a 5-0 lead before a long, high shot from a bad angle gave Alvirne their only goal.
Murphy Hunt opened the second half scoring on a flip assist from Isak. Tom Lyons fed Oscar for a blast that went off the bar and then off the keeper. Three minutes later Oscar put away a bumble for his hat trick. With four minutes to play Oscar and Lyons set up CJ Wheelan for the goal which he clearly predicted on the bus trip down. Connor Hamlin completed the scoring with a near post finish from a Matthias Einarsson cross. The JV1s return to action 48 hours from Tuesday's kickoff with a road match at Manchester Memorial at 5:00. Dismissal/departure at 2:00.
The Varsity adapted to a gritty grasp pitch that was short but narrow, taking the lead inside four minutes and controlling midfield en route to a 3-0 victory over Alvirne. Hanover is now 8-1 and sits in second in NHIAA Division One, sandwiched by 9-0-1 Bedford and 7-1 Manchester Central The rest of the field is beginning to fall away.
Alvirne marched right down the field after kickoff, possessed the ball in Hanover's end, got a shot, and got a corner. That was about it for the Brocos. Hanover started breaking out of their end with quick short passes, and started pursuing hard when they lost the ball, and the field tilted toward the Marauders. Much to the chagrin of the purists on the Hanover bench, it was clear that throw-ins could be both a weapon and a threat. In the fourth minute, Eric Ringer launched a throw into the box which produced shots in rapid succession from Amane Matsuoka and Charlie Adams. Chatty Alvirne goalkeeper Mason Brooks couldn't hold the rebound from Adams' shot, which fell to Eli Stack 10 yards out. Stack struck a steamer with his left peg and Hanover had a 1-0 lead. Another long throw a few minutes later gave Adams the chance to flick a header wide. Blake Palmer stole a pass deep in the Bronco end and ripped a shot just wide of the post. Just before the stirrings on the Marauder bench, the pressure from Hanover's high wingers gave Amnane Matsuoka possession in the box. His shot from a bad angle changed direction off a defender and into the net. The official scorer is reviewing video, but for now Matsuoka is credited with his three goal in four games. Hanover will focus on Memorial, and train on the turf Wednesday after the girls are done with Pembroke.

As of a week ago, it has been named as the site for all of the NHIAA Championship games, having been dumped by SNHU, who prefer to host college playoffs. Whatever. Let other worry about the playoffs. Hanover will focus on Memorial, and train on the turf Wednesday after the girls are done with Pembroke.
If you are still reading, please read just a bit more. I would really, really, really love your help with the upcoming CROP Hunger Walk this Sunday. It's a fundraising for hunger, with funds aiding those in both the Upper Valley and throughout the world. I have helped run this for more than a decade. It's a fun way to spend a few hours on a fall Sunday afternoon, and aide a great cause. I have sent material, home with some players. It's east to find the site on line. I would love to have people walk on Sunday, I would love to have people register online and start raising funds. (So easy!). I would love help from all four teams. I would love support from parents. This is optional, of course. But it's one of the few times when we ask for student help to raise funds for a good cause. The site is easy to find: www.crophungerwalk.org. You can walk on Sunday. (5K around Lebanon, starting at 1:00 Sunday. Registration in Colburn Park opens at 12:30). You can raise money. Best, you can do both. There will be 100 or so walkers, who have a 5K/1K option. We all end with a wonderful late lunch at the Lebanon Congregational church on the Green. Free food: Soup, hot dogs, cider, cookies. I will be grateful for your participation and support. Material and information still available.
