The two scrimmages featured a lot of scoring, and our six-man coaching staff had a chance to do a lot of observation and analysis.
Tuesday and Wednesday at 3:00 at the high school, every freshman and new player and returning (after a year) player need to have a concussion impact test at the HHS Library, conducted by Trainer Austyn Resek. These are the players who must go on one of the next two days were listed in an e-mail sent earlier this evening. This fits well into the afternoon schedule: Testing at 3:00, Training at Dresden 4:30 - 6:00. All players will train Tuesday from 10:00 - Noon and 4:30 - 6:00. A Junior/Senior team will be named early Tuesday morning for the 6:00 match with Royal Grammar School from Newcastle. All are invited to watch on a lovely summer evening.
We will play Newcastle's Reserves with a younger team at 10:30 Wednesday morning. We are scheduled to train and play the Alumni Wednesday evening. The schedule is for strong storms on Wednesday afternoon. We will be keeping an eye on this.
We are delighted that a number of families have stepped forward to host players from Newcastle on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Having recently received wonderful hospitality from local friends and families in Ireland and Iceland, I am particularly pleased that we can pay it forward with a great group of students.
Thanks to all players and parents for contributing to a smooth start. We had a few little nicks, but thanks to players who were good learners, unselfish and hard working, we accomplished more than we hoped. Please keep the water and sunscreen coming for tomorrow.
