Late Night Edition for Wednesday

Here are some more details for the next two days.  You know the basics:  Full workouts for everyone both Thursday and Friday 10-Noon at Dresden.  Evening bus trips to Keene Thursday and Friday.
29 players go Thursday to play art Keene State University.  Bus leaves at 4:00 p.m.  30 more players (TBA soon)  will go to Keene High School Friday.  Bus leaves at 3:00.  Games at 6:00 and 7:00.

Thanks so much to the players and parents who took care of concussion screening both Tuesday and today.  We have all but three players screened.

The lads from Newcastle have had a great stay in Hanover following Tuesday night's match.  All reported great hospitality from our households.  They watched an early movie in West Lebanon, had a great Boloco lunch, courtesy of Friends of Hanover Soccer, got in some mini golf at Fore-U, did the ice cream and pizza package, and then strolled Hanover until reconnecting with their now familiar host families. Eric Ringer cruised up in the drivers seat.  Yikes.

Only two days into the process, and I can feel the angst.  I know this can be challenging. Breathe. I am so confident in our process and our accountability and our care for every player.  We just decided the format for the final varsity decision-making process.  Associate Head Coach Sam Farnham and Captains Charlie Adams and Kyle Doucette will drive with me down to the Friday games at Keene. There will be a number of players in the Friday games who are under Varsity consideration.  After the games the four of us will chat on the ride home and not leave the car until there is a consensus.  I will post the varsity list Friday night, probably later than first intended.  Immediately afterwards, we will post a JV pool list for the West Jamboree on Saturday at 1:00.  This will be larger than the final JV1 team, which will be announced Monday.  This group will be playing against varsity teams.

Sunday, everyone has the morning off.  I'll be at my day job.  Sunday afternoon the Varsity team will leave HHS at 2:00 to go to Windridge.  Sam Farnham will lead a training session before supper, and a tactical session after supper.  Coach Grabill first has to attend the NH Soccer Association Rules Meeting (Required) and will get to Windridge in time to distribute the s'mores.  Coach Grabill has had s'mores multiple times this summer.  The team will train hard at Windridge Monday morning before returning to HHS.  (There will be a training session Monday morning for all players not at Windridge, including those trying out for the first time).

The JV1 team will be named Monday.  JV1 and Varsity will play on the turf against Lebanon at 4:00 and 6:00 Tuesday.  We are sponsoring a Food Drive for the Haven that night.  We ask all players, parents and fans to bring non-perishable food items  (Cereal is fun to collect, stack and move!) to the game, as well as considering donations to The Haven.  We have asked Lebanon to join this public service endeavor.

Remember that in every game from now on, players will be required to have a mouthpiece.  No one gets on the bus without showing the coach their mouthpiece.  Referees will not allow players to play without one.  Hanover High no longer supplies mouthpieces for their players.

ooh, such a crabby ending and I have droned too long. The next post will be for the Friday night trip to Keene:  Thirty juniors and sophomores and three freshman Jacks.
