Following a long weekend, we jump right back into the middle of soccer on Tuesday, with three days of frantic game action involving all four boys' teams. The Varsity and JV1 open their Division One seasons on Tuesday against visiting Exeter. JV1 plays at 4:00 on the HHS grass field. Varsity plays on the turf at 6:00. We are asking all players, parents and fans coming to the Varsity game to bring non-perishable food items for the Haven Food Pantry.
JV2 and Freshman will train at Dresden at the usual 4:00 - 5:30 slot. If they plan homework time well, they might be able to sneak back k to the turf to watch the Varsity.
On Wednesday, the Varsity and JV1 And JV2 teams will train, and the Freshmen will play the Varsity girls in a rematch on the turf from 5:30 - 7:00. Following that game (and Freshman Parent Night), EVERYONE will gather in the HHS Auditorium from 7:00 - 7:42 for the Parent/Player meeting. The revised 7:00 meeting time allows the freshman players a chance to finish their match.
Thursday will be the best day yet! Varsity and JV both host Bishop Guertin of Nashua at 4:00 on their respective home pitches. The JV2 will open at home at Dresden against Hartford at 4:30. The Freshmen will train at Dresden for 4:00 - 5:30. With two special guest coaches, Eric Jayne and Brendan Barth. Both attended Hanover High, and were on the HHS team that Beat Bedford in 2010 for the NHIAA Title. Both were All-New England in High School, and Eric was an All American and Gatorade Player fo the Year. Both attended Dartmouth. Both played Varsity Soccer. Eric won three Ivy titles, and was Captain senior year, winning the Norman Grant Clark Award. Brendan won Most Improved Player after his freshman year. Both are now attending Dartmouth's Geisel School of Medicine as first years. So, lots of time on their hands! But they will be regular assistants for both Varsity and Freshmen.
Looking ahead, the Varsity will take Friday off and then resume training on the turf late Saturday.
Thanks for brining food tomorrow! See you at the meeting Wednesday!
- Rob
